I grew up in near Chicago and came east to attend Wellesley College and later the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I taught school briefly, worked for non-profits connected with education, and co-authored two high school textbooks. At Harvard I was a fund-raiser for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, seeking gifts from alumni to support everything from professorships and scholarships to keeping the lights on. I sang in the Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus. Now retired, I have been active in Harvard Neighbors, participating in the French book group and the French conversation group. I have combined an interest in history, a love of nature, watercolor painting, and travel by making annual solo trips to Europe to paint plein air in remote locations. Knowing it takes courage to come to a new place and speak another language, I am happy to help newcomers with their transition, strengthen their English, and find new friends. Welcome!
